Teaching Philosophy

Music is for everyone

In my time as a teaching, I have seen many different students. I have taught blind, young, old, beginner – advanced, etc… I am confident on the statement that music is for anyone. To be loved and shared by everyone. And my goal is to share that with anyone willing to listen.

Learning music is a long-term process

Unfortunately, music cannot be learned well through copying a YouTube video. The one on one experience and repetitive lessons ensure each lesson something is learned or enforced. If you want to know your craft well, it takes time and dedication in developing virtuosity.

Setting goals and Performing Opportunities

I believe in order to enjoy music to the fullest it should be shared. It is my job as a teacher to give all of my students opportunities to preform and share their music with others. Music inspires and motivates others to try new music and possibly write their own. Having goals like performing at a recital or competing in competitions give tangible proofs of improvement. That’s what we get excited about. When you can finally play the difficult section that you spent weeks on. You prove to yourself that you can do difficult things.
